Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration

  • 3 May 2017
  • 11:00 - 12:00
  • US Coast Guard Headquarters (CDR Ray Evans Conference Center)

May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month.  The FAPAC-USCG, in partnership with the USCG Civil Rights Directorate (CG-OOH), will host the AAPI Heritage Month celebration at Coast Guard Headquarters.  The event will pay tribute to the long and deeply rooted legacy of the AAPI community in the United States, showcasing contributions and achievements generations of Asian/Pacific Americans have made to American history, society and culture.

In 1990, President George H. W. Bush signed a bill passed by Congress to extend the week-long celebration to a month-long celebration. The official designation of May as Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month was signed into law in 1992.

Date: 03 May 2017

Time: 1100-1200

Theme: "Unite Our Voices by Speaking Together"
